because he keeps asking...

so, i mentioned last week that i'm not sure anymore that i want the shoes i've been saying i wanted for two years. apparently this foiled some christmas present plans to the max, so i thought i'd share a few ideas. ;) some are big, some are little, and honestly, i don't need anything but time with the ones i love.
for serious original artwork...maybe not this piece from anthropologie, but something amazing and one of a kind for our "art gallery" (the incredibly long hallway in our house)

beautiful letterpress personal calling cards...because boone has some and i'm jealous. or even just some new, traditional correspondence cards because i am O-U-T.

an amazing wear everywhere dress from boden, since i've been salivating over it since i saw it and it looks like it was MADE for my body.
or a softer than soft chambray shirt...because i had one that i wore into pieces and it's time for a replacement. the downside: boone and i could match.

or a teeny tiny delta necklace, to show my pride or an awesome monogram necklace from moon and lola (and because jewelry is always fun to get)

or a way to satisfy my karaoke craving at any moment and even in the comfort of our own home.

I've also been really wishing for a subscription to the HBR...nerdy? yes. still a super amazing read? oh yes.

POD people...

yesterday was loading day and the morning was totally crazy.
boone lost his keys, we both had our immunization appointments for our trip at nearly the SAME time our POD showed up at our complex, PLUS our across the hall neighbor was moving in the BIGGEST van i've ever seen and blocked almost the whole loading area. thankfully, the neighbor finished early, we worked around our appts. and though the keys are looooong gone, it won't be a huge expense to replace some of them.

now, thanks to dear friends, our POD is packed to the gills minus our most needed things (the sleeper sofa and our pots) but we've still got a little more to do. the good news is that we're not leaving ATL until Monday but now is the hardest part... i mean, what do you do when you have tons of teeny little piles of stuff (some junk, some necessary objects)? Do you bag it? Box it? throw it ALL away? what do you do when you move?

what i've been up to...

so i'm in the 'sip with my folks for a little bit while boone finishes up exams and papers (it wasn't fair for me to be finished and be around the house rubbing it in his face). i've been here since tues. and we've spent the whole time pulling together our very own GARAGE SALE!

i'm so sad you're not here because it's a neighborhood affair with tons of great stuff. five families (ok, women) pitched in some pretty fantastic things (vintage dresses, working new-ish appliances, fish-shaped glass bottles...) anyway, i'll try to take some photos this afternoon to show you what you're missing!

make me an offer...

zoiks! so i've got a while until graduation but i've already started the job hunt and ---let me tell you-- job searching (and follow up) is so scary. i wish these t-shirts would work.

any advice for me on how to lick my wounds and cope, friends?

a little blog love...

ran across this blog and etsy shop this weekend and spent waaaaaaay too much free time looking around. first of all, i love design of the titles of each post (because i'm obsessed with kraft paper)
second, their etsy crushes are now MY new etsy crushes, and third, i'm going to steal this fun idea for hanging small pieces of art in our office space...

you should head on over there to see what YOU can find.

to do...

spring break starts this afternoon! it won't be much of a break since i'm headed home to take care of wedding details AND go to an engagement party that my aunts and uncles are having for us. as far as wedding planning goes, here are my "To Do" and "Already Done" lists.
my goal is that by the time i get back to atl, everything but the favors and gift bags will be checked off! cross your fingers that my mom and I can be this industrious!

checked off the to do list:

-started pre-marital counseling
-ordered bridesmaid's dresses
-got a place for the reception and ceremony (same place)
-wearing a dress I already had
-using my mom's veil
-booked a caterer (but we may have to re-think this... the cost is like WAY more than we thought)
-booked a band
-ordered invitations and love them
-got a florist for bouquets, etc (but we may do some of the ceremony decoration ourselves)
-written the liturgy for the ceremony
-booked photographer friend Joe and took engagement photos
- ordered groomsmen suits
-started calligraphy for envelopes

things that we need to do soon:
-find wedding bands (this is hard when you want to buy estate jewelry!)
-rent a tent in case of rain
-make bridesmaids and hostess gifts
-get my dress fitted
-get a passport
-decide on kind of cake
-work on the program

details that can wait:
-make out of town gift bags and maps
-get dress altered
-find ties for groomsmen
-figure out songs for band to play
-talk to joe about shots we want
-bake cookies as favors
-make paper cranes

see rock city...

when i used to drive back and forth from college i'd go through eastern tennessee and loved looking for these barns. turns out other people do too, which is why flickr has a whole group dedicated to the search!

i just think it's the folksiest, simplest, coolest ad campaign* that ever existed...and it may or may not be a secret dream of mine to live on a piece of property that has one of these barns. until then, i'll have to settle for one of the birdhouses. i'd actually forgotten how much i loved them and how i bothered boone about NEEEEDING one (or a mailbox that looked like one) until i saw one at brunch at treehouse this morning. i'm hooked again!

i even put it on my wishpot registry (is that silly?) honestly, i hope people get us things cook with before we get a birdhouse... but just in case, you know? ;)
*learn more about the history of said campaign here.
