forever and ever...

here's another post from the road...
so boone and i are on our way to laurel for the wedding of a dear, beautiful friend i've had for FOURTEEN YEARS...megan. she's truly going to make the most beautiful bride and i can hardly wait to be her matron of honor since we've been talking about love, boys, and forever since we were 14 and 15. in celebration of megan and her handsome honey, here's one of her engagement photos. beautiful, right?

wrapping it up...

some people have OR.GAN.IZED drawers or those fancy containers for their gift wrap. this is not me...plus i move so frequently (8 times in 9 years) that i try not to keep extra clutter.
soooo... this is how i wrapped the gifts for my attendants and will be wrapping Christmas gifts this year. so easy, and so pretty.
but first i've got to get this paper finished so i can get busy making and finding the presents.

how do you giftwrap?

did I tell you about the gifts i gave my maids and other female members of the wedding party? probably not, since i wanted it to be a secret...but i was just bursting to show them to somebody since i was REALLY pleased with how they turned out.

in most weddings i've been in i've gotten jewelry to wear on the day of... but since i wanted my friends to dress like themselves for the ceremony, this wouldn't work. and i wanted to make sure that i gave them something that said, 'you are important to me, i made this just for you.'

so i made them each a silhouette.


the best part was that i got to think about each of my girlfriends and our friendship as i made them and remember why i'd asked them to be a part of the day and how they were special to me.


let me know if you want to know how i did it... but basically it's a piece of cake with a good photo, a sharp exacto-knife and a steady hand.

here's to hoping the girls liked them as much as i did and will know how much they mean to me!

if the shoe fits...

i told the gals they could wear whatever shoes they wanted to... this makes sense to me since we're having a wedding, not going to a showchoir competition. (but i do like the fun photo here!)


now i've got to find something to wear on my feet... i'm looking for metallic, flat t-strap sandals that are comfortable. i'm just not into white shoes, and may is HOT in the 'sip so i want to wear sandals. also, flats are way better for dancing.



my sweet cousin and aunt got some that are exactly what i wanted for me, but they're way too big and thus, are pretty un-comfortable. going tomorrow to see if they have them in a smaller size b/c they are perfect... if not, then i' guess i'll keep searching.

positively lovely...

did i tell y'all that i sent my friends these positively green cards asking them be my maids?





i wanted to make sure they knew what they each meant to me and why it was important that they stood with me on that day. i still actually have one to send (but i asked her already, don't worry!)

anyway, i liked these because they were eco-friendly, but i mostly liked their lovely quotes and their look. i couldn't find all of the ones i sent, but you get the idea from these, right?

when i want more, i can get them down the street at urbancottage, but you can get them here.

Wedding Wednesday... the maids!

i've been hesitant to talk about my upcoming wedding ceremony because, er...um.. we're still not totally sure about any of the details but we're only 179 days away from our potential date! yikes!

don't worry... we've booked a reception site and chapel, a caterer, the cake lady, and I've got a dress.
right now you're thinking, "so, what's the problem? you've got all the BIG things lined up, you're set."

weeeeelllll, the thing is, my mom hasn't actually SEEN the reception or chapel site and let's just say it's a little non-traditional.

How non-traditional, you ask?

VERY. we're talking a tin roof with pea gravel and a hanging stained glass window from one open-air side of the chapel, and a reception site with walls covered in blues memorabilia. Boone and i love it because it's laid back, non-fussy, and outside, which, unfortunately may be exactly the reasons why the mother-of-the bride may not.

riiiiight.

the worst part is that we won't know for sure if we get the go ahead until JANUARY...that's cutting it a little bit close, i think. if this doesn't work out, then we'll do something pretty pretty different and traditional in my hometown which, --let's be honest-- will be totally fine. i mean, at the end of the day we'll still be married no matter where it is or what it looks like.

all that is to say that i'm not really sweating it right now, but it sure would feel good to have those major details ironed out.



In the meantime, my beautiful friend-maids are picking out which of these fun little numbers they're going to wear on the big day. Originally I'd wanted them to be in any sort of navy or brown dress that they felt lovely in, but there were some points of contention about that. Sooooo... we went with the "burnished olive" and they get to pick out whatever style they like best. Word on the street is that # 2 and #3 are the most popular but i LOVE the ruffled one. love it.*

anyway, now on Wednesdays (for sure) and maybe a few other days, i'll share some wedding details and tidbits. let me know your thoughts.
