after living through katrina in mississippi i can't believe that I never signed up to be trained as a red cross volunteer...i can't really think of many organizations that can respond to disasters on such a large and fairly effective scale an dmobilize such large groups of people to serve and care for others. all this rain is devastating homes and with schools closed i have a free day to help... i'm filling out an application to be a volunteer right now although i won't be trained in time to help tomorrow. if you're interested, you can do it here:
